After a long, cold winter, spring has finally arrived—and with it comes a renewed energy across New York City. There’s truly nothing like NYC in the spring. It’s a season of fresh starts, warmer days, and a city that comes alive again.

From iconic parks to vibrant neighborhoods, spring is the perfect time to get outside and explore everything NYC has to offer. Below, we’ve rounded up a few great ways to enjoy the season. These ideas aren’t ranked—just a collection of fun, inspiring ways to experience the city this spring.

Enjoy!

1. Visit Central Park

Let’s start the list with the most obvious choice: Central Park. This 843-acre oasis in the heart of Manhattan is truly unmatched. With its winding nature trails, expansive lawns, towering trees, rocky outcrops, and abundant wildlife, it’s a paradise for nature lovers and city dwellers alike.

Spring is when Central Park really comes alive. The blooming flowers, fresh greenery, and warm sunlight make it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you’re looking to relax, get some exercise, play sports, or simply meet up with friends, the park offers endless ways to enjoy the season.

No springtime list would be complete without Central Park—so do yourself a favor and make it one of your first stops this season.

2. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge

Have you ever walked across the entire Brooklyn Bridge? If not, this spring is the perfect time to do it. As one of New York City’s most iconic and recognizable landmarks, the Brooklyn Bridge has been a defining part of the skyline since the late 1800s. Designed by John Roebling, its 1.1-mile span originally provided a vital link between Manhattan and Brooklyn—long before subway tunnels and modern transportation existed.

Walking the bridge is a simple but unforgettable experience. Whether you go in the morning, afternoon, or evening, you’ll enjoy incredible views of the skyline, the waterfront, and the soaring cables that make the bridge so famous. It’s also a great opportunity to snap some epic photos—perfect for Instagram—while getting fresh air and a bit of exercise.

You can start on either the Manhattan or Brooklyn side; both offer a unique perspective. If you haven’t walked the Brooklyn Bridge yet, definitely add it to your springtime to-do list. You won’t be disappointed!

3. Escape to Prospect Park in Brooklyn

If you’re looking for a park that has the charm of Central Park without the massive crowds, head over to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. If you haven’t been, think of it as Brooklyn’s own version of Central Park—a 526-acre oasis filled with rolling meadows, wooded trails, lakes, streams, waterfalls, and beautifully preserved historic landscapes.

Prospect Park was designed by the same visionary behind Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted, and you’ll notice plenty of similarities. Both parks feature expansive lawns perfect for relaxing, sports fields, winding nature trails, scenic lakes, zoo areas, and impressive architectural details. But Prospect Park has its own character—quieter, more intimate, and beloved by locals.

With so much ground to cover, it can take multiple visits to truly explore everything the park has to offer. Whether you go for a peaceful walk, a picnic, a workout, or just a breath of fresh air, Prospect Park is an absolute must on your springtime to-do list.

4. Be a Foodie at Smorgasborg

If wandering parks or walking bridges isn’t your thing but food is, then Smorgasburg should be at the top of your springtime list. This massive food bazaar takes over multiple locations in NYC each year, showcasing a wide array of local vendors and culinary delights from across the city.

This year, Smorgasburg is returning to its two iconic Brooklyn spots—Williamsburg and Prospect Park—and will also host events at the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan and across the Hudson in Jersey City. Whether you’re craving gourmet treats, inventive snacks, or just a lively foodie atmosphere, Smorgasburg is the perfect way to indulge your taste buds while enjoying the spring air.
If food is your thing, make sure to add Smorgasburg to your spring itinerary—you won’t want to miss it!

5. Head to the Cherry Blossom Festival

Springtime in NYC is a season of renewal, and there’s no better place to experience it than the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. This 52-acre oasis, located right next to Prospect Park, is a stunning escape any time of year, filled with exotic plants and trees from around the world.

Spring is particularly magical at the garden, especially during the annual Cherry Blossom Festival at the end of April. If you’ve never attended, it’s a must-see event—an Instagram-worthy celebration that captures the beauty and vibrancy of the season. A visit to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is the perfect way to soak up spring’s energy and marvel at nature in full bloom.

6. Head to a Baseball Game

One of the most quintessential New York experiences in the spring is attending a baseball game at Citi Field or Yankee Stadium. If you’ve never been to a game in the city, this is a must-do. For New Yorkers, going to a baseball game is practically a rite of passage.

Even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, the energy, atmosphere, and camaraderie make it a fun outing with friends. Getting there is easy: hop on the 7-train to Citi Field in Queens or take the 4-train to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx—both are just a 20–30 minute ride from Manhattan. A game is a perfect way to spend a sunny spring day and soak in a true slice of NYC life.

7. Explore Flushing Meadows-Corona Park

Just south of Citi Field in Queens, right at the same 7-train station, you’ll find Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. This massive 897-acre park is best known for hosting the 1964 World’s Fair, and it remains the largest and most iconic park in Queens.

The park is home to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where the US Open is held each summer, as well as the famous Unisphere. But there’s much more to see and do—Flushing Meadows-Corona Park also features a museum, theater, botanic garden, indoor ice rink, walking trails, and a zoo. Whether you’re looking for recreation, culture, or simply a place to enjoy the outdoors, this park has something for everyone. If you haven’t visited yet, make sure to add it to your springtime to-do list.
